Swimsuit Season

It's Swimsuit Season Bee-aytches!!! And I've really done it this time.
I've broken down. This is what I bought.

Yep! A one peice swim suit! And not just one...

....But two of them!

I've been wearing a two peice since I was a senior in highschool. This is the first time I've bought a one peice since then. Why now?

I realized I may have to start attending church sponsered acivities this summer since my daughter is turning 12 and will be attending youth events, which most likely here in LA, will involve a pool or beach. It is normally frowned upon to wear a two peice at church events so I've done the lady like thing and bought a nice conservative one peice.

But my sister told me the suits I bought are not conservative at all, that they are too low cut up top.

So, this means I can't show my tummy or my cleavage? I already look like a tree trunk in a one peice. I don't wear one peices because the similarity between the way I look in them and little girl gymnasts in their leotards is way too close.

I think I've come a long way. I might even slowly be evolving into a lady. But give me my cleavage!

Baby Steps people.... Baby Steps..

and for all of you who are worried..I will still be rocking the two peice outside of church events.

Burbank Art Fair

Sunday morning before church, and after my early jog, we went to the Burbank Art Fair. It happens twice a year and we haven't missed one yet since we've moved here two years ago. It is really quite a lovely event and the kids love it. There are a lot of hands on projects for the kids and so many different types of wonderful handmade jewelry. (Ryan has yet to buy me any) Grrr. There are also many different types of wall decor, etc.

This year I signed up with the city to receive a free composting bin. But first I have to go to a hour and a half workshop this Saturday morning. I am looking forward to putting all of our old food in it along w/ yard scraps and making my own fresh soil! Asher is looking forward to the worms.

By the Way.. In case you are wondering..Ryan's outfit is courtesy of Avery. She planned his outfit for him from his hat to his shoes. He was quite brave to wear it. (just one more reason why I love him) I told him he looked like an undercover cop trying to be undercover but failing miserably. He laughed. He said it was better than a pedophile.

Betty White

Now who out there doesn't love themselves some Betty White? I remember watching Golden Girl on TV with my mom and cracking up and thinking there were so funny. Of course Betty stood out as the naive, small town woman where everything had a happy ending.

What a great feather in Betty's cap for the opportunity to host SNL. For someone her age she has managed to stay current and mainstream. She does that, in my opinion, because she hasn't tried to change who she is. She has gotten older and hasn't tried to fool us with excessive plastic surgery. She dresses appropriately for her age. And she pokes fun at herself. She also has an amazing abilitly to still act like a lady while telling a dirty joke. Definitely keys to success for anyone. (oh, and she's an animal lover)

A few years back I was eating at a restaurant in Santa Monica. She was eating at the table next to us with her granddaughter. I tried not to stare. She was so interested in her granddaughter and was focused and present. And it seemed her granddaughter was genuinely happy to be with her. It was a sweet moment that taught me a lot about parenting.

It looks like Betty White is having a happy ending of her own. Although I'm sure she is far from done.

You Know You've Made it When..

....when your picture is on a box at Costco. I took these picts a while back. I had no idea they would end up in Costco. It was a very hot day and I was sweating like crazy w the shiny things they use to bounce the light off of you. But it took only a few hours and I got paid a nice sum of money.

I sent the picture to my family as a joke. I've been in LA now for a while acting and this was actually my first print job. I think it's hysterical I'm on box in Costco for a pressure washer. My mother though, was quite proud and said, "Well, EVERYONE goes to Costco! Everyone will see you!"

Funny stuff.

So now here's the new criteria for gauging your success in Hollywood according to my mom. If you're on a box at Costco...You Made It!!

UPDATE: If you look close you can see I'm wearing safety glasses. I wasn't wearing safety glasses at the shoot. Hmm...

Why do I have a plunger on my roof?

Yes... I know, that's exactly what you're thinking and exactly what I was thiking when I saw this. Hmm.. the likely culprits.. my children. But the real culprit has to be my daughter Avery. She probably was cracking herself up imagining my reaction when I saw this. She loves to play jokes and do silly things.

But the real problem is.. I saw this a few days ago and haven't taken it down.

Just the way they are

Fooling around with my new Hipstamatic Prints via a cool new ap on my Iphone. So of course I grabbed the kids to experiement on. I always tell them how to smile, pose, etc. This time I told them to just do what they think makes them look their best. So this is what I got. And I do have to say..I think they did better with out all my instructions. So maybe it's true?..yep. They are perfect just the way they are.

New favorite artist

Her name is Lissie and she's amazing. Ryan and I saw her open up for Ray LaMontagne here in LA back in December. I haven't been able to get her out of my mind ever since. A beautiful and penetrating singer. Cuts right down the center. She establised a huge connection with the fans at the concert with her powerful voice Everyone was riveted and more than happy to wait for Ray to take the stage.
